Words of the Day

Words of the Day

Hi. I am Teacher Daniel from Xplore English and I would like to tell you about our Words of the Day programme.

To understand what the programme is all about, you need to know the difference between a Cell phone and a Homophone.

A Cell phone has many different ringing sounds. But these sounds always mean one thing – someone is trying to get hold of you. So, different sounds but same meaning.

On the other hand, a homophone is a word that sounds like another word, but the two words have different meanings. For example, sea and see. So, in this case, same sound but different meanings.

The Words of the Day programme is an automated 35-day email programme where you will be introduced to two similar sounding words (homophones). When you subscribe, you will receive one lesson per day for a total of 7 weeks.

During this online programme, you will be able to:

  • Listen to the correct pronunciation and learn the correct spelling of 60 similar sounding English words
  • See how each word can be used in a sentence and listen to the audio recording of the sentence
  • Complete mini assignments in your downloaded fillable PDF worksheets
  • Mail the completed assignments to be reviewed by a qualified and experienced Xplore English tutor
  • Access the programme on a cell phone, tablet, computer or laptop
  • Complete the programme in your own time
